Notes:

So Smash Bros 3DS adds a an extra layer of detail on the characters when you pause the game for what I assume to be used for screenshots like a photo mode.

You can actually test this out yourself in training mode while being zoomed in to a player and comparing it next to a screenshot taking during the pause screen.
