About

The phrase Bedroom Eyes describes a suggestive/sexy look, typically worn by models, with sultry half-closed eyes and a beckoning smirk. The phrase is used frequently in conversations, and it is a popular topic in reaction images and macros.

The expression is usually associated with suggestiveness and sexuality, but humans (and fictional characters) can make it for a variety of reasons, such as being relaxed or acting sarcastic. A quick screencap of a character mid-blink and some minor editing can easily create the illusion of naughtiness. As such, the expression is frequently used to troll people.

Offline, the facial expression is frequently used in advertisements.

Origin

Although the phrase has been around for many years, and has frequently been used to comment on images, posters, and films, the 2008 song Bedroom Eyes by Natty probably contributed to the term’s modern popularity.

Usage

This instructional video on makeup application uses the term as something commonplace (as do the comments).

One of the most frequent online uses of the expression is in images of Disney characters. These images are commonly used by trolls, who want to poke fun at those who may be uncomfortable in sexual situations; the recontextualizaion of the otherwise-wholesome cartoon characters makes this possible.

My Little Pony parodies

More recently, some people have decided to create videos dedicated to this trope featuring the characters from My Little Pony. These are, again, used for trolling those who may not be comfortable in such situations. There is often a joke at the end of them, so watching (or skipping to) the end is recommended.
