On October 2nd, 2008, the vice presidential debate for the 2008 election was held between Joe Biden, then a U.S. Democratic senator and Sarah Palin, the former Republican governor of Alaska. Watched by nearly 70 million U.S. television viewers and people online, the debate also left a hot trail of parodies and gossip on the Internet.
Origin
On October 15, a FARK forum user posted several screenshots of the debate in a thread titled “Biden / Palin meme thread”[2], planting the seeds for some quality exploitables.
Soon, a blank 4-pane image was served by another poster and a photoshop challenge ensued. A typical Biden/Palin 4pane went something like this:

The FARK thread eventually led to over 270 derivatives, many jabbing at Sarah Palin’s lack of mastery in public speech and others of Biden telling sexist jokes to Palin. The thread also spread to other sites like Pundit Kitchen[2] and "Macrochan.[3]
