Tokai University linguistics professor Yun Himonya was first known in Japan for teaching and writing books on communication. His popularity got him a late night TV show about making people angry. Or so Japanese viewers were led to believe, Himonya is his stage name. Regardless his show was a riot.
One of the episodes was about “The Sudden Encounter” and involved crushing a business card “mercilessly”
Birth of a meme
This video in particular was enjoyed by the Japanese Futaba channel user made his own comic strip version of the scene, depicting some animu characters to replace the interviewer and interviewee. It was translated, and the comic and video circulated around /a/ for a while. The meme really got going when an anon on /a/ decided to make his own MSpaint version of the comic, with different anime characters.
Format
A template was made and then all hell broke lose. The gag of this meme is the person on the right has something the person on the left wants. The follwing discourse arrises.
Speaker 1: Do you want this X?
speaker 2: Sure, I’ll have it
Then speaker 1 proceeds to break whatever they were offering.
Note: this meme is read right to left like Japanese comics.
