"Dis Gon B Gud" is an expression often used in forums or comment threads to denote that the poster is going to enjoy watching a complex argument or discussion topic unfold. The phrase has been also iterated in the form of a reaction GIF featuring a man opening up a fold-up chair and getting ready to sit down.
Origin
The phrase "dis gon b gud" can be seen as an ebonics translation of the colloquial expression "this is gonna be good," which is typically used to convey a sense of excitement and anticipation towards an impending spectacle or event. The GIF animation of a man opening a folding chair was taken from a scene in the music video for Ron Browz and Jim Jones’ rap single "Pop Champagne," released on September 4th, 2008.
The first GIF instance was uploaded to Threadbombing[2] on February 16th, 2010 and meant to be used by spectators in a heated online debate or argument, similar to popcorn-eating reaction GIFs.[4]

The GIF was posted to the Body Building Forums[3] on February 21st, 2010. The phrase was used as the title of a May 2010 article posted on celebrity gossip blog Oh No They Didn’t.[6] In 2011, the GIF was sought out on the IGNforums.[7] Its first known appearance on 4chan was on January 6th, 2011[5] in an archived /v/ (video games) thread featuring badly drawn Sonichu art. While most often used in discussion forums[8], the phrase has been also used as the post title on Reddit[9] and as a Tumblr tag.[10][11] The original GIF can also be found on several repositories including HilariousGIFs[12], GIFs Forum[13] and Reaction GIFs.[14]
Jason Momoa Folding Chair
On May 8th, 2009, season 3 episode 20 of the television show The Game aired, featuring a scene in which Jason Momoa's character Roman unfolds a folding chair with a one-handed thrusting motion and sits in it (shown below).[15]
Within the next few years, the scene was turned into a GIF with the words "dis gon b gud" added across the bottom (shown below). The earliest available version of this GIF was uploaded to Know Your Meme[16] on May 2nd, 2012, by Brad and comes from the now-deactivated site GIFS Forum as evidenced by the watermark. The post gained over 30,000 views in roughly 8 years.
The GIF saw significant use as a "dis gon b gud" format over the years, used as a reaction. On March 6th, 2014, /u/BigMurph26 uploaded a high quality version of the GIF to /r/HighQualityGifs.[18]
On January 21st, 2021, @butting_nz uploaded a version of the GIF where Bernie Sanders is sitting in the chair once unfolded, referencing the Bernie Sanders in a Chair meme (shown below). On January 22nd, /u/__Dawn__Amber__ re-uploaded the GIF to /r/dankmemes.[17] The post was given a "Mod's Choice" award that day and pinned to the top of the subreddit, where it gained over 122,000 upvotes in 6 hours.
