George Bush Gives Middle Finger also known as the One-finger victory salute refers to a video clip of former United States president George W. Bush giving the middle finger to the camera at a production facility in Austin, Texas during the last few months of his tenure as governor of Texas. The video, as well as screencaps and gifs made from the video, have seen wide circulation online since it was made public by Austin, Texas-based advocacy group "Texans for Truth" in late 2004.

Origin

On October 28, 2004, Salon.com posted a now dead link to a 21-second video clip it obtained from Austin, Texas-based advocacy group Texans for Truth of George W. Bush complaining to an off-screen individual believed to be his then aide Karen Hughes before smoothing out his hair and quickly flipping off the camera, which garnered hoots and laughter from the production crew. As the video continues, the crew can be heard wondering if the camera was rolling while the incident occurred, with Bush describing it as a "one-fingered victory salute".^[1]

On March 5, 2006 the clip was uploaded to YouTube by user "sugartaspice". As of January 3, 2019 the video has accrued over 515,000 views and 1498 likes against 124 dislikes.^[2]
