Julien Blanc is a Swiss-born pickup artist and dating coach who works for the United States-based company Real Social Dynamics. In 2014, Blanc was accused of promoting sexual assault in a number of social media campaigns which aimed to deny him entry to various countries.

Online History

In 2008, Blanc began working as a dating coach at Real Social Dynamics,^[1] where he instructed at the "Real Social Dynamics Bootcamp" and launched the "Pimp" video course for dating advice. In 2014, Blanc uploaded a video titled "White male fucks Asian women in Tokyo (and the beautiful methods to it)," in which he claims that in Tokyo "If you're a white male, you can do what you want." The video also contained footage of Blanc forcefully interacting with various Japanese women.

After Asian-American Jennifer Li discovered the video, she reported it to the Japanese embassay and launched the hashtag #takedownjulienblanc in protest of his actions. Several online petitions were subsequently created, which called for Blanc to be banned from entry in several countries, including Australia, Canada, Britain, Japan and Brazil. On November 17th, he offered an apology in an interview on CNN (shown below).

Denial of Visa

On November 6th, 2014, Blanc's Australian visa was revoked following protests and petitions for him to be removed from the country during his Australian tour. That month, a petition was created on Change.org^[3] to "Deny Julien Blanc a UK Visa" (shown below), which gained over over 150,000 signatures within three weeks. On November 19th, the United Kingdom denied Blanc a visa.
