Rape Face is a common phrase used online that refers to images with characters making an intense face that implies a desire to rape. This phrase can be seen on 4Chan, DeviantART, and other sites where images and image macros can be found as responses. Urban Dictionary notes rape face as
"The face a man makes (usually [baring] teeth) before sexual penetration."

Origin

While the exact origins of Rape Face are unknown, it began to appear in 2008. One of the earliest instances is the image below, of Link, from The Legend of Zelda.

The image was posted by the user linkrapefaceplz^[1] on September 7, 2008, and is a redraw of an image of Spongebob Squarepants from the episode "Just One Bite" (clip shown below).

Spread

Rape Face has become popular in many forms, including Demotivational Posters, "At First I was like…", and Reaction Faces. It has become common to make threads specifically for the purpose posting rape faces, or to post a rape face image in response to an appealing image or post.

Youtube Trend

In 2010, a sub fad of Rape Face appeared on YouTube, entitled "X's Rape Face" (also spelled Raep Face, Raep Faec, or Raep Faic), which features an image of a character making a rape face accompanied by music to heighten discomfort or lulz.
