About
“Waiting for OP” and “OP will surely deliver”, sometimes spelled “delivar”, are catchphrases associated with image macros featuring people, animals or skeletons posed in front of monitor screens as if they had been waiting for the original poster’s response for a very long time. The image is used in threads to warn posters of the futility of tracking a topic where the origin poster (OP) has promised to deliver something (usually photographs).
Origin
The phrase “waiting for OP” has been used in the Democratic Underground[1] forums as far back as March 3rd, 2005. One of the first image macros to use the phrase “OP will surely deliver” features a reclined skeleton and is accompanied by a “chan4chan” watermark. According to the chan4chan[2] page, the image was uploaded on December 29th, 2009.

Usage
These catchphrases are commonly used when it is suspected that the original poster is lying about being able to supply something they have promised, or that they have abandoned the thread. It usually centers around photographs or videos that have been promised to those following the thread.
