Reactions to SF characters be like:
"Chun Li is oversexualized!"
When she wears a typical chinese garb that covers her entire body, except for the legs she uses to kick with.
"Zangief's alright"
When he's a 7 foot ripped giant wearing nothing but a speedo.

Not to be defending The Mary Sue, but I'd like to point out one thing.

I don't think overly muscular men are considered sexy nowadays, especially Zangief which is just comically overmuscular so you can't really say he's sexualized.
