The phrasal template meme has people riffing on one of the most memorable strings of lyrics from the song to talk about the things they like, and it's quickly entering absurd territory.

What Is The 'I Like X, I Like Y' Meme?
"DENIAL IS A RIVER" is the fourth track on Doechii's 2024 album Alligator Bites Never Heal, which won her a Grammy for "Best Rap Album" and "Best New Artist." The song sees Doechii rap back and forth with her alter ego, who asks her questions about her life.
In one section, she defends her partying ways and drug use, rapping in part, "I mean f---, I like pills, I like drugs."
The lyrics stuck out to a lot of listeners, who started posting them on Twitter along with GIFs of people or characters vibing to the track.
Then, on February 18th, 2025, Twitter user @_D3KAE posted a version of the meme that reads, "I mean, I like cats, I like dogs, I like little bunnies, I like hamsters, I like frogs." From there, the meme spread like wildfire.
How Is Doechii's 'DENIAL IS A RIVER' Used In Memes?
The meme became very popular on Twitter over the next few days as users posted the same image of Doechii, taken from the song's music video, alongside new versions of the lyrics.
Most of the memes see the poster replace the lyrics to be about things they like, either genuinely or simply for the sake of comedy.
Others take the meme a step further by editing the image of Doechii to also fit the lyrics, such as a version about liking painting and art that uses an illustration of Doechii, or a version that reads, "I mean f--- i don't like anything" that features Doechii with crudely drawn-on angry eyebrows.
