For some, lying on the internet is just a favorite hobby. It's a pastime that brings some much joy and pleasure, for some reason. Some people can get away with lying on the web. Surely there are people out there living different lives online. Others are just terrible at it and should stop immediately. Being caught lying online is so much worse than the act of lying in the first place. There's no way these people actually think everyone is going to believe their miraculous, insane, blatantly unbelievable stories.

Why do people lie online, then? No one knows for sure, probably for clout, sympathy or to feel better about themselves in some way or another. On Reddit's community /r/thatHappened, people expose the obvious liars online for all to see. It is an embarrassing and cringe subreddit to scroll on, but entertaining nonetheless. Here are 15 very fake-sounding stories people are hoping everyone will believe.
