Thomas Kinkade may not be a worldwide famous painter, but his work amassed a peak popularity in the '90s, especially in the United States. His work was focused on pastel colors and brilliant illumination of the scene, painting dream-like houses and landscapes to captive fans – and a lot of haters.

Critics have denigrated his work, calling it sugar-drenched, unpleasantly artificial, and boring. That didn't stop Kinkade to earn his place as a popular painter, with his serene paintings hung in one of 20 American homes, according to Independent UK.
