10 Interesting Colorized Historic Photos From Decades Past

As everybody knows, color began to enter the world gradually towards the middle of the 1900s. Before that, existence was all in shades of gray and people saw in black-and-white, which was what cameras captured. Historians and scientists still don't know exactly how color entered the picture, but these avid photo artists on Reddit's /r/Colorization speculate what the world of the past might have looked like if it were, indeed, colorful.

Doing colorized history takes a lot of work, and a deep proficiency with photo editing apps. You can check out the users who made each of these by clicking the source link below the photo (where it says "Reddit") and going to their profiles. You can see more of their work there. The service they do is valuable because it lets us imagine the past and history as a true, lived reality. Life was different, life was weird, but life was still life back then.
