10 Memes And Reactions To The 'El Muerto' Movie Announcement No One Needed
No one knows why, but Sony has a habit of releasing some mediocre Spider-Man villain origin story movies. Right now, Morbius is being generally disliked by viewers and tanking in the eyes of critics. And for some reason, Sony decided this "hype" was the perfect time to announce their next movie based on the same setup. This one's called El Muerto, and it's about, you guessed it, El Muerto. But who exactly is El Muerto? Why should we care about him? We probably shouldn't, since he's only been in two of the original comics and really never mentioned again, but this choice is also weird for a film because they've casted Bad Bunny as the lead role. Bad Bunny is now going to be Marvel's first live-action Latino lead in a movie, and that's about the only thing that's memorable; so far, there's nothing particularly groundbreaking about the idea of having an El Muerto movie when we're already seeing way too many Spider-Man villain origin movies out there. Clearly, someone has given up on coming up with new ideas, and so far no one seems to be planning to see this movie. Instead, they've come up with some pretty entertaining responses to the news, as seen below.
Here We Go Again
This SpongeBob quote has been around for as long as we can remember, and yes, this definitely makes sense in the context of Sony constantly putting out movies about supervillains no one cares about.
What a Great Time To Be an El Muerto Fan
If you're an El Muerto fan, you're in luck. Or maybe you're not, because you don't exist in the first place.
Only the Two Comics Right Here, Specifically
Here are the aforementioned two comics. That's the only time El Muerto has appeared in Marvel canon, so where are they even getting their material from?
Poor Guy
Speaking of not having enough material to write about, these poor screenwriters are going to be trying so hard to make El Muerto fit into the Spider-Man universe despite knowing nothing about him.
The Sweep
Morbius sweep is a meme where Morbius takes over as the biggest movie of all time through some ironic edits. Now, it feels even more relevant, since we doubt this'll even have the same minuscule number of fans as Morbius.
