10 People Fed Up With Their Job Applications

If you've ever spent countless hours applying for jobs, you know just how frustrating it can be. From having to re-fill out all the information that was in the resume you already uploaded to waiting months just for no response to ever come, the modern job application process is a whole mess, and we're honestly sick of it. If you've ever been sick of it yourself, then you'll love this collection of witty responses and posts honoring the many pitfalls of trudging through hundreds of applications.

If you're currently applying for jobs, maybe these images will help voice your frustrations. It's good to know that you're not alone, especially when your responses from potential employers are nonexistent, and that millions of others are in the same place every day. It's also funny to see what recruiters will try to get away with due to the desperation of applicants everywhere, and it's nice to see them get called out for it once in a while. Here are some of our favorite posts from people stuck in limbo between endless job applications.

Unpaid Internships

>? r/cscareerquestions u/Okmanl. 3y Unpaid internship opportunities are actually useful and you should apply to them. Join You can use them to practice your interview skills. If you get an offer just tell them that you can't work for them because you got accepted for a paid internship. Not only do you get back at exploitive companies by wasting their time, but you will also be able to practice what you're going to say when interviewing at a real company. ↑ Share 2801 172 + Award

What Kind Of Job Application Question Is This?

Some people are Pirates and some people are Imperial Naval Officers. On the spectrum between the two, which one are you? Why? If neither, how would you describe yourself? Executive function is rare: very few people are able to build systems, find the critical path, toggle between levels of zoom and align upwards, downwards and sideways in the organization. Why do some people get stuck, while others soar - and why are you so confident you are the rare exception?

This Person Got Called Into an Interview Just To Be Told They Were Never Being Considered

Thursday 9:32 AM Hi Tracy, I wanted to let you know in the most respectful way that what you and Terry did this morning was rather rude and unprofessional. This was my second interview where I came in and was told the company had no intention of hiring me. I do not understand the thought process behind it. I would love to take Terry's advice and continue with my education, but that requires money. To pay for bills and school, this means I need a decently paying job. After 22 online rejections, I was so excited to have an interview so maybe I could pursue my goals and make a decent living. You raised my hopes and dashed them quite expertly. Being told it coming in early was a "Test" while knowing you were not going to hire me was an extra insult. I came in sick, so I think I should get extra points on that test. I also missed the ten minutes I get to spend with my family every day since they work 13 hour night shifts and I work days. I'd like a point on the test for that too. May I ask what you were testing me for since you had no intention of hiring me? I only write this to you to try and make you understand that this was not a very nice thing to do. I ask you please do not do this to anyone else in my position. It is not nice to raise someone's hopes just to have an opportunity to patronize them.

Employment Gaps

$ 1w. S We interviewed a 26 yr old candidate yesterday with 15 months of employment gap. Me: Why do you have this gap in your resume? Did your employer lay you off? Him: No, I quit the job, because my father's health wasn't good and he was admitted to the hospital. I had to take care of him, so I relocated to my home city. Me: What happened to him? Is he alright, now? Him: He passed away few months back. I had left the job so that I can give all my time and create some good memories during his last days. I have no regrets that I left the job or because I have this employment gap. Without a second thought, the panel members decided to select him for the role. I said, "You're Selected. Congratulations on your new role!" Sometimes we just need to listen and understand people, then judge them. Patrick Martin @Patrisimoose I AM A PHD STUDENT IN MATHEMATICS Hello Mr. Martin, My manager reviewed your application. Unfortunately, the determination still stands. An 8-Round Interview

You would have an initial call with a Recruiter, then the Hiring Manager followed by a coding challenge. If all goes well at that point there would be 5 rounds with the team via zoom. Your thoughts on a call with the Recruiter for this team? let me know either here or my email @NYTimes.com I appreciate you reaching out but that's excessive, I wouldn't be interested. Most companies now have a 3 or 4 step interview process that's more respectful of my time. I wish you the best of luck in your recruiting efforts though
