Wikipedia has always been there for people to learn random knowledge. Any question, any concern, any sudden need for certainty and the public crowdsourced encyclopedia is ready to respond. Teachers may have cautioned against citing it in essays and papers as an official source, but at the end of the day, it probably taught us more than any teacher ever did (no insult to teachers. It’s a vitally important and too-often under-honored profession).

The Twitter account @depthsofwikipedia has made a mission out of sharing the quirkier, more eccentric side of the familiar online encyclopedia. Posting screenshots of fascinating and unusual content found on the site has gained the account a sizeable following and helped to promote Wikipedia and the knowledge it offers.
