These stories from Reddit's /r/ThatHappened definitely didn't happen. We can guarantee it. No one's buying the completely unrealistic things these social media users are claiming happened to them. Whether a baby just spoke to you with a fifth-grade vocabulary or everyone in the store clapped for you for your mean joke, these people have lost touch with reality.

Everyone knows that people lie online; sadly, it's just to be expected nowadays, since apparently our social statuses rely on impressing others online. But if you're going to say something untrue to make yourself look cool on social media, at least make it realistic. It seems like this is impossible for some people, and it's honestly sort of embarrassing and cringeworthy. We're sure they didn't get away with anything when they acted out as kids, because their parents could always tell they were lying, and now we can, too. Here are some of the best examples of people making something up just to get fake internet points.
