Elon Musk Gets Twitter Talking By Tweeting "Free America Now"
As we face the uncertainty of how long the current pandemic will be affecting our lives, many are utilizing their social media accounts to express how much they miss their former lives and friends and how much they fear for their health and economic well-being. And while many celebrities have aired their frustrations, several tweets from one in particular sent Twitter over the edge.
Last night, Elon Musk not only shared his support for the state of Texas' decision to lift their lockdown restrictions this week, he also fired off a "FREE AMERICA NOW," tweet that received instant criticism. Memes, GIFs and countless critical tweets sent his name to trend all day, with many even comparing him to President Trump. While Musk had seemingly downplayed the virus back in March, many were shocked to find someone with such a strong scientific background dismissing data completely.

what a shame. ending the lockdown in america early will only put lives in danger and overflow our medical facilities even more. i used to think you had the greater good of humanity in mind. not your own financial gain. i suppose i should have known better.
