Ah yes, cancel culture strikes again. In a recent interview with the British newspaper iNEWS, the enigmatic and beloved Jeff Goldblum discussed his relationship with Woody Allen while promoting his new jazz album I Shouldn’t Be Telling You This.

Goldblum, who had a minor role in Annie Hall told the interviewer that it was Woody Allen who inspired him to pursue his love of music after working with him on the film, and performing with the director's jazz band. When asked if Goldblum would consider working with Allen again even though the director's own daughter accused him of sexual misconduct, the actor stated that ,"even though I feel like this cultural shift [the #MeToo movement] is very, very positive and long overdue and I support it wholeheartedly and take it very seriously, I also admire his body of work. So I would consider working with him again, until I learned something more (negative)."

After this interview hit Twitter, a debate about whether or not Jeff Goldblum should be cancelled by association, became a hot topic, and soon the actor's name began to trend.

First came his demotion from the Hollywood Holy Trinity.

And the mourning soon followed.

Many were shocked that his name would ever be associated with cancel culture.

New nicknames were even given to the actor.

Several users pointed out that negative stories regarding Woody Allen preceded the #MeToo movement.

The crushes were killed.

The disappointment was deafening.

Of course, many reactions rolled in judging all of the users attempting to cancel the actor.

There was mostly relief that the actor was still alive, despite his name trending, which ususally causes alarm.

Some were just plain fed up with this newfound art of cancelling.

And others found it hypocritcal that Whoopi Goldberg and Meryl Streep had not been cancelled yet.

As this debate carries on, we remain extremely anxious about who might be next.
