Analog horror series creator Alex Kister has become the subject of much discussion online, with fans of his YouTube horror series The Mandela Catalogue reacting to news that he may have been grooming minors and harboring a fetish not unlike the "alternates" he depicts in his show.

Moreover, some creators and collaborators associated with The Mandela Catalogue have gone so far as to leak unreleased footage and information about the future of the show, including theories that the whole series is modeled after the Bible.

Moreover, some fans are going so far as to accuse the series itself of representing Kister's well-disguised fetish. Here's a recap of all the allegations levied against the creator, and the discussions about the show that have exploded online this past week.

What Is The Mandela Catalogue?

The Mandela Catalogue is an analog horror YouTube series created by Alex Kister. Part of the show takes the form of instructional videos directed toward the citizens of Mandela County, warning them about supernatural organisms known as "alternates." These alternates often take the form of people's friends or relatives and are known to kidnap children. Other videos act as found footage encounters with these supernatural entities, showing how they wield psychological warfare against their victims.

The show was well received by fans and praised by horror lore creators like Wendigoon when it was first released in 2021.

What Are The Grooming Allegations Against Alex Kister?

On March 12th, 2024, X user @STIRRINGJUICE (Ven) posted a document detailing their and their friend "DB's" experiences with Alex Kister. The document delved into their tumultuous relationship with Alex, his tendency toward sexual conversations despite Ven's discomfort, and their belief that Alex engaged in predatory relationships with his fans. Both Ven and 'DB' are adults.

The document also contained an instance where Alex Kister allegedly sent an image of himself dressed in a maid costume to an underage person.

Alex Kister responded to Ven's document saying that it contained false and baseless accusations against him and that the document amounts to slander. He promised to respond with his own evidence.

Various other internet users posted their own accounts of what they believe is inappropriate behavior on Alex's part, including 16-year-old Mitcha (@archofcorpses) who describes how she had to talk down Kister from possibly fatally harming himself and eventually harmed herself due to the stress from the incident. Mitcha also vehemently denied being 'DB' after being mistakenly identified as them.

X user @donutqq_qwq posted a document detailing her experience as one of the minors in Alex Kister's servers, saying that he had a "parasocial relationship fetish," and seemingly got off on adoration from his fans (excerpt shown below). Also on March 12th, X user @scaraphim_ made a post saying that they drew fan art that Kister later mimicked in a sexual photo he sent to DB.

Why Are People Saying That The Mandela Catalogue Is Fetish Content?

The various testimonies shared by people accusing Kister of having inappropriate and predatory relationships with his fans led some fans of The Mandela Catalogue to believe that the series itself was "fetish content." It is unclear where this idea began, but it may be linked to people accusing Kister of having a "parasocial relationship fetish" enabled by the fame he gained from making the series. Other fans described The Mandela Catalogue as fetish content after interpreting the aforementioned documents as Alex Kister having a "copying others" fetish, not unlike the "alternates" in his horror series.

On March 12th, 2024, X user @Atlas5hrugg3d posted a shocked emoji, writing, "THE MANDELA CATALOGUE WAS FETISH CONTENT!!?" while X user @DewEnjoyer posted a meme that read, "Tonight's episode, The Writer's Well Disguised Fetish."

What Is The Leaked Mandela Catalogue Content, And Why Are People Drawing Parallels To The Bible?

Some internet users posted unreleased Mandela Catalogue content to spite Kister in light of the accusations levied against him. X user @iitsAP_ posted a link containing, "unfinished Vol. 5 scenes, scripts, behind the scenes images and footage, series plot, assets, Patreon content, scrapped Vol. 333 menu, and more," while X user @OughPizzaPasta posted a thread of leaked Mandela Catalogue content, revealing crucial unreleased plot points for the show.
