Who Is VTuber Shizzy 'TheGawd' And Why Is He Getting Canceled? The Viral Doxxing Controversy Explained

There's big drama in the VTuber world right now after VTuber Shizzy "TheGawd" posted a video criticizing several aspects of the community. The video was not received well, with viewers accusing Shizzy of using out-of-context clips, making hypocritical points and, most troubling of all, doxxing VTuber Watson Amelia. Here's what you need to know.

Who Is Shizzy And Why Is He Being Canceled?

Shizzy, who also goes by TheGawd, or @Visecs on X / Twitter, is VTuber and rapper known largely for his gaming content. On May 11th, 2024, he uploaded a video to YouTube in which he criticizes aspects of the VTuber community that he has problems with. Namely, he calls out VTuber culture for racism, fostering parasocial relationships, having a lack of diversity in their personalities and more.

The video became the subject of criticism over the following days for a few reasons. The main reason is that he purportedly started the video with a clip of VTuber Watson Amelia's real face. Although her face was already somewhat known online, some saw this as doxxing. The clip was removed following the criticism, along with a similarly criticized portion where Shizzy compiles clips where it seems as if VTubers are saying a racial slur.

However, many of these clips were purportedly taken out of context, with most of the shown VTubers either being unaware of the weight behind the word and not realizing how unacceptable it is to say due to being Japanese, or saying a Japanese word that sounds similar to the slur.

How Has Shizzy Reacted To The Controversy?

While the video was the only thing being criticized at first, people have since attempted to dig up further dirt on Shizzy to use as ammunition to criticize him further. These include unconfirmed allegations that Shizzy was associating with known predators from the pro Super Smash Bros. community and taking a trip to Mexico with them. Recently, an ex-girlfriend came forward and accused Shizzy of being toxic towards her, claiming he didn't pay her for designing a persona for him and sharing DMs in which he berates her.

Shizzy has responded to these allegations several times in videos, denying the trip to Mexico and claiming he cut all ties with the Smash players after they were exposed. He's also doubled down on the claims he made in his initial video, insisting that racism is a problem in the VTuber community and denying doxxing Watson because her face was already out there. For his ex-girlfriend's claims, he apologized and admitted he has to get his anger "in check."
