Blue Rock Cod

Blue Rock Cod is a mildly popular meme based on this video by youtube user COBALTGRUV , One of the oldest users of the popular video-sharing site Youtube.com and its first commenter. Blue Rock Cod begins as COBALTGRUV explains that he caught a Blue Rock Cod on his Birthday while fishing and proceeds to cook and prepare in the video. The most striking part of the video begins at 0:08 where a synthesized or edited deep voice exclaims "Blue Rock Cod" as blue text appears and disappears in the video shortly after. This happens a few times in the video, although most without the voice.

The clip is arguably examplary for 21st Century Memes and has seen a recent resurgence in YTP videos starting in Mid-2020 until the present. Youtube User bangerfriller has posted a video with it in a YTP called "YTP:Bobby Hill goes fishing in Poopland". The video and user account of bangerfriller has since been deleted for unknown reasons, but the video is widely believed to be the first instance of Blue Rock Cod appearing as a meme.

The meme still remains obscure to this day and has remained in the YTP scene without any influence on any other form of media.
