Ditto Electrode refers to a Novelty Twitter Account in which a plush toy of the Pokémon Ditto, which can transform into any other Pokémon, is transformed into an Electrode and updates on its various adventures. The account grew popular as many found the updates cute.

Origin

On July 6th, 2018, the account, @ditto_electrode,^[1] posted its first update, gaining over 1,100 retweets and 4,200 likes (shown below).

Spread

The following day, the account posted an update that gained over 17,000 retweets and 55,000 likes, helping it gain thousands of followers (shown below, left). On July 12th, the account posted a picture of the Electrode Ditto with a Poliwag Ditto playing the Nintendo Switch, gaining over 14,000 retweets and 48,000 likes (shown below, right).

The account also has received many pieces of fan art, which it regularly retweets (examples shown below). As of July 20th, 2018, the account has over 56,000 followers. It has also been covered by Daily Dot^[2] and Twitter Moments.^[3]
