About
Nicola Sturgeon Approves refers to a photo that was captured of First Minister of Scotland, Nicola Sturgeon smiling whilst looking up.
The picture has been used as a reaction image to make it look like she is observing something whilst smiling signalling a sense of approval to anything that is Scottish or anything related to Scotland appears.
Origin
Andy Buchanann captured a picture of Nicola Sturgeon when she was meeting primary school pupils as part of a mental health awareness event.
The picture however was used on an article for The Sunday Post, a Scottish newspaper, who used the picture in an article which focused on Nicola Sturgeon delivering the 2018/19 Scottish Government's Programme for Government.
Spread
The first instance of the picture being used was on Twitter a few months later where a scene from the Game of Thrones finale showed the new Queen of the North declaring that the North will remain an independent state separated from the South, with the picture of Nicola Sturgeon making it look like she approved of the scene. (see below)
Further pictures have also been used such Nicola Sturgeon approving Yakko's Nations of the World where Scotland is mentioned, approving Scottish Haggis over the controversial British Haggis packaging and approving a scene from The Simpsons season 20 episode In The Name of Grandfather where Bart wants to 'visit Scotland next time' as he thought Irish culture was boring.
