About

Superorganism is an eight-piece indie-rock band known for their internet-savvy music and videos, incorporating elements of internet aesthetics such as datamoshing and Seapunk into their videos.

History

The group began as a recording project with its members based in several countries. Four of the members were touring with a group called The Eversons when they met Orono Nuguchi, where they bonded over their love of music and memes. Nuguchi would later go on to become the group's lead singer after the group invited her to sing on what would become the group's single, "Something For Your M.I.N.D."[1] On May 11th, 2017, the group released the music video for their track "It's All Good," gaining over 500,000 views (shown below, left). They released "Something For Your M.I.N.D." in February of 2017 and the music video for that track was posted September 6th, 2017, gaining over 3 million views (shown below, right).

The band began seeing press coverage in the Fall of 2017. Dazed[3] wrote about the group on September 6th, 2017, and in October of 2017, they were profiled by The Fader.[2] Meanwhile, the group continued releasing singles and music videos. To date, their most popular music video is that for "Everybody Wants to Be Famous," gaining over 5.3 million views (shown below).

On March 2nd, 2018, the group released their debut self-titled album. The record was generally well-received by music critics, scoring a 73/100 on Metacritic.[4]
