w-arden like the problem with the tumbir community is that no one is allowed to safely f--- up if i was my uneducated ignorant little 14 year old self y all would have ripped me a new one and probably scarred me for life and that's so scary tbh, that a community of adults would and DO witch hunt and harass minors over things they're being children about overlookingsunset This sort of statement relies on a HUGE misunderstanding of how "social justice drama" happens in tumblr. People assume that the explosive backlashes happen because someone said one thing that they weren't educated about. That's almost never the case. What ACTUALLY happens is, when someone says something f----- up, they are told that what they said was f----- up. If the person had responded "Ok or "sorry” 99% of the time it would end here. But no, what usually happens is the bigot decides to double-down on their bigotry, and start insulting or harassing those who were the messenger, trying to educate them. And that's where the backlash comes from, from the person's decision to be a total a------. If I know someones underage, I don't argue with them no matter what. But I'm not going to tell other underage people they can't argue with an underage bigot TLDR: Outrage doesn't happen over one comment, it happens over people deliberately being assholes over and over again.
