What've You Got For Me refers to an exploitable webcomic featuring an unnamed male purchasing goods from an anthropomorphized-depiction of the internet. The comic, which is stylized to resemble a back-alley drug deal, has been edited by people online to change what exactly the Internet is selling.
Origin
On February 5th, 2019, comics artist Inky Rickshaw[1] published the original comic, entitled "The Stuff," on their website. In this initial version, the Internet sells "clumsy cats," "relatable comics" and "article that reinforces your opinion."
The following day, Inky Rickshaw posted the comic on Reddit's
[2] /r/comics subreddit. The post received more than 17,500 points (95% upvoted) and 80 comments in 24 hours (shown below).
Spread
That day, in the /r/MemeEconomy [3] subreddit, Redditor filmisbone posted the comic with the for-sale items removed, allowing others to replace them with whatever they want. The post received more than 40,000 points (89% upvoted) and 2,100 comments in 24 hours (shown below, left).
Following the post, others began adding their own interpretations of the template. For example, Redditor[4] 99TreesO posted a meta version of it, wherein which the buyer just enjoys the blankness of the template. The post received more than 2,000 points in less than 24 hours (shown below, center).
That day, the template was posted in the 4chan [5] message board /v/, where, for example, one anonymous user replaced the images with photographs of Ricardo Milos (shown below, right).
