If nobody got us, we know AriZona Iced Tea got us.
Inflation in America has been the talk of economists and political pundits, as prices for all sorts of goods, like gas, have soared in recent weeks. While Americans have grumbled at the rising cost of various goods, one company has refused to jack its prices: AriZona Iced Tea, whose tall cans have cost 1 dollar for thirty years and still do to this day.
Earlier this week, the Los Angeles Times ran a story on the remarkable resistance the company has shown to raising the cost of their products in the current economic climate, though the company may be less profitable as a result.
"I’m committed to that 99-cent price -- when things go against you, you tighten your belt," said AriZona's CEO Don Vultaggio said. "(Even though his costs are higher), I don’t want to do what the bread guys and the gas guys and everybody else are doing. Consumers don’t need another price increase from a guy like me."
The piece has turned AriZona into a champion on social media, as Twitter users have praised the company for staying committed to its shockingly affordable price, considering similarly-sized drinks from other companies all cost well over 99-cents.
I love the 6'8", 70-year-old founder of AriZona Iced Tea who refuses to be a "bread guy" or "gas guy" and is keeping the price of a can at 99 cents, despite making a bit less.https://t.co/aGFPH7JLt5 pic.twitter.com/dWXKiIAjRo

AriZona Iced Tea has stayed 99 cents for 30 years. The company is still profitable.
A Coke stayed 5 cents for 70 years at one point.
When companies say "we're forced to raise prices due to inflation," they're really saying "we're taking advantage of inflation to raise profits"— Dan Price (@DanPriceSeattle) April 15, 2022

Game to milk its time in Twitter's good graces, the official AriZona Twitter account posted a Fantasy Painting Object Labeling meme depicting its fight against inflation, using a Dark Souls III image showing Yhorm the Giant squaring off against the Ashen One.

We can quibble over whether AriZona's meme was properly labeled, as Yhorm is infamously a pushover despite his grand stature and thus should probably be labeled "inflation" in AriZona's meme. Nevertheless, it was widely celebrated among AriZona drinkers and FromSoft fans alike.

Though AriZona may have been better served using different FromSoft characters for their meme (say, labeling Malenia as "inflation" and recent Elden Ring hero Let Me Solo Her as "AriZona"), there's no denying that the company has had an excellent week in marketing.
