About
Let Me Solo Her is the name of an Elden Ring player who grew famous among the player base for leaving his summon sign in front of the Malenia, Blade of Miquella boss fight, generally considered the hardest in the game, and flawlessly defeating her for other players while armed with two katanas and dressed in nothing but a pot helmet. His name is an instruction to the player who summoned him to step back and let him handle Malenia. The player inspired a bevy of fan art and imitators on Reddit.
Origin
On April 11th, 2022, Redditor great_artorias made a post thanking the player "Let me solo her" for beating Malenia for him,[1] gaining 70 points. On April 12th, Redditors gabsuLoL and sazed813 both posted threads in /r/EldenRing[2][3] praising "Let Me Solo Her" for his work taking down Malenia in a fight the three of them shared, gaining over 930 and 40,000 upvotes, respectively. Later that day, Redditor KleinTsuboiOW,[4] evidently the player with the handle "Let Me Solo Her," posted a video of himself beating Malenia in another player's game, gaining over 313,000 views on YouTube (shown below) and 50,000 upvotes on Reddit in two days. Of note, bosses take less damage when other players are summoned to help in the fight, making Let Me Solo Her's accomplishment all the more impressive.
Spread
After KleinTsuboiOW came forward with his video of himself beating Malenia for other players, he became a celebrity on the Elden Ring subreddit, as users began creating fan art for his unique attire. For example, on April 13th, user Asphodelophiliac[5] posted fan art of Let Me Solo Her and Malenia in the Oh, You're Approaching Me? pose, gaining over 44,000 points in one day (shown below, left). User etherealsteve[6] posted art of Malenia and Let Me Solo Her squaring off, gaining over 14,000 upvotes in one day (shown below, right).
The heroics of Let Me Solo Her inspired other players to do follow in his footsteps with other difficult bosses in the game. User Ijustdontknow712[7] reported that they were inspired to imitate Let Me Solo Her for the Commander Niall boss fight. User shreksaphone12[8] reported they'd found an imitator ahead of the Godfrey, The First Lord boss fight. The story was covered by Vice.[9]
On April 15th, 2022, IGN[10] interviewed Let Me Solo Her. He explained that in his playthrough of the game, he took 242 tries to beat Malenia, but that experience led him to master the fight. He also revealed his loadout: "a Rivers of Blood+9 in his left hand and a Cold Uchigatana +25 with Hoarfrost Stomp. His talismans, are Green Turtle, Viridian Amber Medallion, Kindred of Rot's Exultation, and Claw Talisman." He also explains his unique attire:
"It is a running tradition of Soulsborne games that the naked players are the most powerful beings in the game. Why wear armor if you don't plan on getting hit at all? And the pot is a good luck charm from the character Iron Fist Alexander whom I admire."
In June of 2022, Bandai Namco gave Klein swag and a formal letter of congratulations for their achievement of beating Malenia over 1,000 times.
Shadow of the Erdtree Resurgence
After the June 2024 release of the Elden Ring DLC Shadow of the Erdtree, Let Me Solo Her returned to post videos demonstrating their mastery over two of the DLC's most difficult bosses: Messmer the Impaler and Miquella and Radahn. Their successes with these bosses helped them gain over 500,000 subscribers on YouTube.
