One thing about TikTok is that no matter what the subject matter, people will find a way to dance about anything.
The limits of TikTok trends as a medium for relating serious information have been tested by user @thesingingwidow, who recently posted a now-viral video in which she danced to Meghan Trainor's "Made You Look" (associated with this dance trend) as she described how her husband was shot and killed by a man who was later arrested for manslaughter.

The TikTok appears to be deleted but was reposted to Twitter by user @ycsm1n, and the pile-on was dramatic and immediate. Many felt the tone of the video clashed greatly with its subject matter, and it struck some as emblematic of a larger issue with social media where people feel compelled to exploit traumatic experiences for views.
we have very little data as to what trauma dumping on tiktok does to the brain but I would guess it is not good https://t.co/eGn7fdOyVj https://t.co/UXZdlOxbz3

In other TikToks, @thesingingwidow has explained that her husband's killing occurred eight years ago. After living with grief for a year and a half, she decided she would attempt to rebuild her life and has since gone on to remarry and have a child with her second husband.
In response to one TikTok commenter asking why she would dance while discussing such a traumatic experience, she explained she did so because she was happy again and is celebrating the struggle to overcome grief and rebuild her life.
@thesingingwidow Replying to @ginab101 Life goes on and I’m proud of, not my story, but of what I did with it. #widowtok #widowsoftiktok #widowsoftiktok💐 #griefstory #traumatok ♬ original sound – Thesingingwidow
This is not the first time a TikToker dancing through her trauma has gone viral on Twitter either. Late last year, a woman became the subject of a social media pile-on after she danced while discussing her newborn son's life-or-death medical condition.
