About

One Thing About Me Storytime is a trend on TikTok where users tell a story as they sing to the beat of "Super Freaky Girl" by Nicki Minaj. The trend began in late September 2022 following a dance trend using the same song.

Origin

On September 21st, 2022, TikTokers began posting videos where they sing along to "Super Freaky Girl" by Nicki Minaj but instead of singing the lyrics, they tell a story from their life. For example, on that day, TikToker[1] @possumgirl posted a video where she tells a story about a class bully who used to glue her buttcheeks together in class, garnering over 5.4 million views in five days (shown below). It is unknown who originally started the trend, though this is one of the earliest known examples.

On September 22nd, 2022, TikToker[2] @itsjadebates posted a similar video, garnering over a million views in four days (shown below, left). On September 24th, Howie Mandel duetted @possumgirl's video on TikTok[3] doing the same dance, garnering over 1.2 million views in two days (shown below, right). On the same day, Dexerto[4] reported on the trend.
