TikToker @whitleavitt became the new face of TikTok cringe last week for performing a dance next to her hospitalized newborn son as the text explained his medical condition.
In the video, whitleavitt explains that her son Liam has low oxygen levels and tested positive for RSV (Respiratory syncytial virus), and that doctors were waiting for the child to breathe better on his own. The video appears to have been deleted from her TikTok but was widely reposted on Twitter.

RSV is generally a non-life-threatening virus that affects many infants, though it can lead to serious complications. The controversial @whitleavitt video was in line with most of her other content, which features her dancing while talking about various aspects of pregnancy and motherhood. However, the juxtaposition of her peppy dancing next to her suffering newborn struck many viewers as bewilderingly terrible.
Imagine the doctor walking in on this lady doing a TikTok dance while her baby struggling to breathe. https://t.co/swHuVFdxkt

Furhter videos on whitleavitt's account show Liam is home with the family and doing okay. However, one video shows whitleavitt tearfully explaining herself after her controversial video went viral.
"I want to be clear and communicate that was me just trying to be positive," she said.
