Minecraft streamer and speedrunner Dream donated $140,000 to The Trevor Project yesterday following backlash over a promise to donate all his streaming revenue from the month to LGBTQIA+ charities in honor of Pride Month. Dream only streamed once on his main channel the entire month a day before the deadline.

Dream made the announcement on his private second Twitter account at the start of the month. As the end of June drew nearer, fans started to realize that he hadn't streamed yet on his main Twitch channel. The Minecraft mogul, who recently sparked multiple controversies over his song "Mask," potentially racist tweets and cheating at a number of speedruns, did host one live stream on his alternative Twitch account, however, donations were turned off. This once again sparked the ire of a lot of Dream fans and haters alike.

On the final day of June, Dream finally streamed on his Twitch channel. This morning, Dream took to Twitter to announce that he would be donating $140,000 to The Trevor Project, a charity that supports LGBTQIA+ causes. In the tweet, he tallies up two streams, plus a number of podcasts from the month, which added up to $90,000. The other $60,000 is provided by his team.

The announcement has effectively won over a number of fans, however, others are taking it as a last-minute attempt to shrug off the controversy. Whatever the reason, $140,000 is no small amount of money, and many are simply happy he actually pulled through, even if under less-than-ideal circumstances according to some.
