Donald Trump may wish to return not just to the White House but to your Twitter feed, at least according to rumors coming from anonymous sources who spoke to NBC News recently. These people, said to be "advisors" to Trump, are telling the media that the former President is talking seriously about getting back on Twitter. Apparently, he's even workshopping ideas for his first post.

The rumors come after Trump's campaign officially sent a letter to Meta asking Mark Zuckerberg to let him back on the platform, which like Twitter banned him after the January 6th Insurrection.

As for Twitter, the new man in control, Elon Musk, has already made the decision to reinstate Trump's account following the results of a public poll he posted in mid-November. Together, Twitter and Facebook were important platforms for Trump to promote his brand and reach his supporters.

The decision to ban Trump was an intervention by two private companies into the American political system, at a moment when it seemed that system could not solve its own problems. At the time, Meta said its ban would last two years, a timeframe that expires this month.

While he was banned from most mainstream social media, Donald Trump then started his own platform, Truth Social, shortly after. Truth Social is essentially a Twitter clone, and Trump has a significant financial stake in it.

Many commentators believe Trump has not yet posted to Twitter (even though he's been reinstated already) because he doesn't want to jeopardize the future of Truth Social. If people can get Trump content on Twitter, there's no reason to read his "Truths."

As word of his potential return spread, many Trump supporters were excited to see their favorite influencer-politician back on the platform. Some of these weren't even Americans, such as the pro-Bolsonaro account below.

Others, however, were much less excited at the prospect of a Trump return to Twitter.
