Viral Video Of Rollercoaster With Massive Crack In Structure Prompts 'Final Destination' Comparisons And The Closing Of The Ride

Over the past few days, a viral video of a roller coaster with a massive crack in its structure has caused mild panic among many who've come across it.

For a little context, the nerve-racking clip was originally captured by Jeremy Wagner, a visitor to North Carolina's The Carowinds amusement park, and the cracked metal support was on the Fury 325 ride.

As seen in the video, a chunk of the supporting beam near a curve of the ride had completely separated from its base. The damage can even be seen pulling away from the structure as the ride's cart swings by.

"I was trying to shoot the video, and my hands were shaking because I knew how quick this could be catastrophic," Wagner told The New York Times following the post's virality. His daughter also reportedly rode the coaster eight times before he noticed the crack.

After the damage was reported, the ride was immediately closed for the crew to make repairs. The Elevator and Amusement Device Bureau of the North Carolina Department of Labor will also be investigating the amusement park.

As the clip circulated on social media, it seemed to align with many users' worst fears. Several social media users compared the clip to an infamous scene in the horror film Final Destination 3 in which a rollercoaster ride goes awry.

Luckily, no one was injured before the ride closed down, and a potentially catastrophic disaster was avoided. Still, it provided intense nightmare fuel for many who came across it on social media, with some claiming they were swearing off rollercoasters for good after that.
