I don't really it as being edgy so much as smarmy, smug, self-righteous and really just dickish.

Being self-satisfied is no guarantee for a better life, nor is it a guarantee one's being a better person. I mean assholes, idiots and sociopaths are probably the most confident people in modern society; doesn't validate their behavior.

Of course offensive jokes can be all kinds of funny; Jimmy Carr, Frankie Boyle, Bill Burr, Louis CK, Jim Jefferies and many other comedians have proven this beyond a shadow of a doubt. I just don't like people thinking they're superior to others simply because of a difference of opinion.
