STAR Crowd-funded PC-exclusive space "MMORPG video game which has recently reached $90 million funding Star Citizen's developer Cloud Imperium Games" (C--) CITIZEN The TL;DR is that C-- has been harassed by another developer for the past few months, and last week several articles were posted by The Escapist repeating/collaborating his claims of fraud and abuse. C-- is refuting these claims. A big, confusing mess has ensued Back in June or July, another developer named Derek Smart starting publicly attacking Chris Roberts/C--/Star Drek Smart is one of the first backers ($250) Citizen, claiming fraud and demanding an external audit on how backer money has been spent and threatening to start a class act law suit. He claimed to have a large number of other backers (which turned out to only be a handful) who felt they were being scammed C-- responded by refunding his and other backers pledges. Interestingly, Mr Smart never cashed the refund check and when C-- investigated further found that he gave a non-existent address. So they cancelled that check and mailed another to his lawyer or some known address that he could be reached at. Additionally when issuing the initial refund they checked into the activity on his account and found that he never even downloaded the game or logged into, so he would have little or no idea of the actual state of the hangar module and Arena Commander. for Star Citizen via Kickstarter He also claimed to have reported C-- to the FTC and that they were conducting an investigation into the conduct of Chris Roberts and C--, but when a Freedom Of Information Act request was submitted by another backer, the FTC was taking no such action. He has continued to sling s--- and attack C--/Chris Roberts/Sandi Gardener, with the most serious situation currently coming to a head when the website/magazine The Escapist published several pieces basically repeating his claims (and claiming confidential sources) Last Thursday they published a big article making all sorts of claims, including explicit racism and ageism in the C-- HR de sources who were current and former employees at C-- for this article. Some of them anonymous, others confidential. The author claims that at least three of these sources were vetted over Skype where they showed a C-- issued photo ID badge and pay stub. Curiously, as you can see from the image above the emplovee badges are generic RF ID badges and have no photos on them ent, embezzlement, abusive management practices and more. It is claimed there were 9 FEATURED ARTICLES C-- were e-mailed a list of questions, which only covered a few of the claims made by the article and given 24 hours to respond. Chris did respond the questions, but they were not included in the article due to some response landed in the spam foldeject! Eject! Author has 304 answers and 740.1K answer views. 5y Not that I care that much either way, but it did expose a lot of corrupt game developers and game journalists. X Journalists would make claims of people like Anita Sarkeesian "playing video games all her life" when she openly admitted many times she is not a gamer and only starter recently (when it wasn't for an interview). Various developers trading sex or money for good reviews got exposed, journalists who accepted got exposed. People became a bit more critical about supporting a game just because the developer has a victim complex stating tat their game could have only failed because of sexism, instead of their own poor developing skills. What really sealed the deal was opposition often faking their own harassment. Anita sarkeesian and Zoe Quinn have been caught multiple times screenshotting "harassment" while showing that the harrasser's account name in the login. Or when someone called the police to help Sarkeesian against a "very real threat" she was posting about, only for police to find the harasser's messages were coming from her IP address. Man if you looked at the CIG to do list for SC you would probably understand why it takes so much time to create the game, it's freaking massive! I am a backer myself and i have tested SC from the hangar module to the dogfighting, and i can say that it's probably one of the most ambitious games out there. Just give it patience and time because it's simply impossible to finish making the game in a short time span. And if they did it in such a short time span it would be bug hell. Do your goddamn research "journalists" and stop forcing your bias into things. GG could have been over for over a year now if the RIGHT actions had been taken.
