Americans have embraced video games for over 30 years, and this pastime has become an important part of our culture for millions of Americans. Yet, as this entertainment medium grows, it has also become a frequent target of political criticism and legislation.

Video games receive the same First Amendment protection as books, movies, music and television – but they are being threatened by legislation on both the federal and state levels.
