Not sure why you're getting downvoted, unions have gotten pretty scummy in America with things like "Right to Work" laws that can mandate you pay union dues (most commonly with people money withheld by employer to fund the union), regardless of if you actually WANT to be part of the union and receive it's protections or not.

I appreciate the attempt, but unions aren't people. Their goal is to make money, just as much as any corporation.
