Not necessarily. The 'cake is a lie' joke didn't work because people used it without the context, which made the line have no real sense (just like 'arrow to the knee' and 'Venasaur'), while the determination one has even used several times in the game, with different sentences, so it works better.
Now the real problem will be when it starts being overused; as you can only repeat a joke or popular phrase long enough before it gets tiring…
