I think the only reason she drew back from the conflict was she didnt want to lose Ben's trail. She blew the flower (like she did to Lewis' which led her to his broken heart) which Im guessing is the bit near the end where Ben sees a petal float down infront of him and he looks freaked out with the shadow of Plant lady's head.
