MY STATEMENT I decided to remain anonymous because Spelman College and Morehouse College do not support or help survivors. In the statements they released yesterday, they claim to take sexual assault/violence very seriously. However, they do not. All the survivors in the AUC、 if asked would tell you that there has been little to no progress on their Title IX cases That said, I will not come out to the media to give them a story. I will, however, speak to administration when the time is right for me. I still will not be returning to Spelman in the Fall. I am only speaking with administration again because student organizers have encouraged me to. My case WAS reported and I'm unsure of what they've done with it since the fall semester All of the personal attacks on social media have not only caused me to be depressed, but have pushed me to continue self-harm- which I will be getting counseling for. People have been more focused on knowing my name instead of fighting against the issue of sexual assault. This is bigger than me. It's bigger than the hashtag. This is about holding our institutions accountable for what they do. Attacking students who are helping me get my story out there is NOT the right thing to do. Some of them are survivors and can relate to me. I thank them for what they do. I love Spelman, CAU, and Morehouse enough to tell them when they are wrong, but I don't love them enough to stay We need to treat sexual assault on campus with more urgency, commitment, and compassion. Along with looking at my case, Spelman College, Clark Atlanta University, and Morehouse College should be looking at ALL cases and provide a safe environment for students to report.
