That's why people keep bringing the situation up, just to spite him.

Saying something stupid once in awhile is okay. Saying something when you are young is expected.

However, once you have matured and put yourself in the public spotlight and try to claim yourself to be an intellectual or a public figure of respect, you have to start rethinking what you allow to pass through your lips or allowed to be tweeted or posted. It's reasons like this why say public figures like Trump get hate when they saw stupid things, not even counting the borderline racist stuff (I'm pointing out the Russia hack, female period, daughter dating, and disabled reporter as examples here). If MatPat was a nobody, we wouldn't get 2 shits about his tweets or posts, But this is a guy who is not only influencing a younger generation of gamers, but also brought this faux intelligence to the table when meeting and talking with the Pope and apparently he must have made a VERY BAD impression on the Pope for him to discourage all gaming now. Think about it, Pope Francis has been tolerant of terrorism, communism and homosexuality (big progress for the Church) but GAMING drew his ire. How much did MatPat fuck up to upset Pope Francis?
