…before Tohru came to Earth and met Kobayashi she was impelled by a holy sword. She escaped to Earth where she would be at peace as she died from her wounds, as the sword was still lodged in her and she couldn't touch it to remove it. Then drunk Kobayashi shows up and is able to remove the sword because she has no faith. So Tohru has a bit of a grudge against the gods.
