And funnily enough, both of these happening for the SAME game franchise.
Context:
On the first image, one of many examples from articles talking about Xenoblade Chronicles X's localization changes. On the second image, an artist rendition of an alternate Pyra costume.
On the first case, people were mad about "censorship", but do note: this was being talked about BEFORE the game was released. People thought that entire scenes and gear would be removed. In the end, all they did was this:
Added black parts to the swimsuits for Lin (yes, only Lin, no one else), and people were still mad.
On the second case, Pyra's costume is changed…… by adding black parts to the costume. And some people call that a "fix".
Today we learned: it is "censorship" when the source does it, but it is "artistic improvement" when anyone else does the exact same.
