From what I remember about the games, that actually sounds accurate. 47 was literally created to be the most efficient killer there is, and in most of the games he treats his assignments as the most important thing at all times.
Of course he does use his profession to also help people in his own way, at the start of Hitman 2 a priest he befriended is kidnapped and he uses his connections to find out who kidnapped him and eventually free him. Also 47 often takes on contracts that involve taking out people who are arguably worse than him as his targets often tend to be people like warlords, corrupt politicians that run pedophile rings, and more. Plus in the games 47 is penalized for killing people who aren't his target so he has enough of a moral compass to know he really shouldn't be killing "innocents."
