Time Goku spent with 18 year old Gohan end of Z: 8 years
Jokes aside Goku is a bad father and husband, but he is a good friend and he treats his family like friends, because this is his saiyan instincts taking over. Saiyans do not have romantic relationships, or care other family member, but they do develop bonds of friendship after battling with and against each other.
Goku does care for his family, but they have the same emotional value as Krillian.
