I'd concede on IE being more secure due to Chrome being massively used (therefore, the main target of attacks), so people don't even bother much targetting IE. Look at Linux, years ago it was the "lol I don't need antivirus, I have Linux". Now due to its popularity (through Android), and a helping of Intel dropping the ball so hard it broke the sacred onion that is the OSI model layers (so you got bullshit like Javascript/Flash having the theoretical potential of having direct access to fucking hardware), now you have to be on your toes whenever a new exploit is found regardless of what you got.

… then you remember many (VERY IMPORTANT) software only runs on Internet Explorer because people who keep using ActiveX are in need of vigorous flogging, so the few people who still HAVE to use IE happen to be very profitable targets.

This picture accurately depicts my relationship with IE-tan when I'm wearing my corporate hat.

No worries, people are just pretending to care and memeing about it. You know, like all those "let's start recycling!" memes when Earth-chan was popular..? Do you really think anyone seriously considered recycling more due to them, let alone actually do it..? Pff, right.
