Mainly because that theme of "Everyone is a sheep except me and/or the people I like" comes across as pretentious and somewhat dehumanizing. The thought that people are solely defined by their tastes and preferences, and liking stuff you don't like or understand is a result of lack of thought is a very shallow minded point of view. Never mind the fact that classifying an entire group of people based on these things and treating them as 'lesser' has… unfortunate implications.
